Therapy Methods

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a goal-oriented, evidence-based approach that helps individuals identify and challenge unhelpful thought patterns. This method is highly effective for those seeking support for anxiety, depression, OCD, and ADHD. Through online CBT sessions in Tennessee and North Carolina, clients learn practical strategies to manage emotions, reframe thoughts, and create lasting, positive change.

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) supports clients in accepting difficult thoughts and emotions while choosing behaviors aligned with their values. ACT is particularly helpful for those facing stress, trauma, life transitions, or perfectionism. In therapy sessions across TN and NC, clients learn how to increase psychological flexibility and build a life rooted in meaning and authenticity.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) blends mindfulness with change strategies to help individuals manage intense emotions, relationship struggles, and impulsivity. This approach is often used for those dealing with mood disorders, PTSD, and emotional dysregulation. Wendy integrates DBT skills into her virtual therapy practice for adults in Tennessee and North Carolina to support emotional regulation and balanced living.

  • Self-Compassion Therapy focuses on developing a kinder, more supportive relationship with yourself—especially during times of pain, shame, or self-doubt. This approach is valuable for individuals struggling with low self-worth, perfectionism, or grief. In Wendy’s online therapy sessions across TN and NC, clients learn to replace self-criticism with self-understanding and resilience.

 FAQs

  • I work with a diverse group of adult clients and am committed to providing a supportive, inclusive space for growth and healing, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, culture, faith, abilities, or socioeconomic status. My approach focuses on recognizing and building upon each person’s unique strengths and capabilities, rather than emphasizing perceived diagnoses or deficits.

  • Yes. I see clients over a secure and confidential telehealth platform. Telehealth provides a convenient, flexible, and comfortable option to access professional therapy services without sacrificing quality of care.

  • Our first full session will be an intake, where we’ll review your history, discuss the challenges you'd like to address, and set goals for treatment.

Typically, sessions begin with a check-in and then focus on exploring topics related to your treatment goals. You’re always welcome to bring up new topics, questions, or recent events during our sessions — this is your time.

You can talk about anything in our sessions. Some topics may be difficult or intimidating, and you’re in control of when and how you discuss them. You’ll never be pressured to talk about something you’re not ready to share.

  • I am bound by legal and ethical guidelines to maintain confidentiality for everything you share in session. However, there are a few exceptions when I have a duty to protect you or others from harm. I will review these limits with you during our sessions, and if you’d like more information, feel free to ask during our free consultation before booking an appointment.

  • The length of counseling varies for each person, as it’s a process tailored to your unique situation. We’ll create a treatment plan, and at any time, we can revisit your progress, goals, and where we are in the process. Research and experience shows that individuals often experience significant symptom relief within 12-20 sessions. However, the pace of progress can differ greatly from person to person. Some may choose to continue therapy even after symptom relief to sustain the positive change and keeping working towards new personal goals.

  • I do not accept insurance, though I can provide proper documentation and a receipt should you wish to pursue reimbursement through your insurance company.

I believe choosing a self-pay provider offers you more freedom, privacy, and control over your therapy experience.

Being self-pay for therapy offers many benefits:

    1. Greater Privacy: Your sessions remain confidential without involving insurance companies.

    2. More Flexibility: You can choose your therapist and treatment approach without insurance restrictions.

    3. No Limits: Enjoy fewer restrictions on session length or frequency.

    4. Control Over Care: You can adjust your treatment plan and therapist as needed, without insurance constraints.

    5. No Hidden Costs: Pay upfront with no surprise bills or co-pays.
